Sonobudoyo Museum


Sonobudoyo Museum is a museum of history and culture of Java, including the building of classical Javanese architecture. The museum holds a collection of Javanese culture and history that are considered the most comprehensive after the National Museum of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. In addition to the time of Neolithic pottery and bronze statues from the 8th century, this museum also store some kinds of wayang kulit, the various ancient weapons (including keris), and the mask of Java.


The museum is located in the north-alon Alun Lor of Yogyakarta's palace in the evening also features puppet shows in the form of original appearance (using the Java language accompanied by Javanese gamelan music). Leather puppet show is presented in a concise from 8:00-10:00 hours on a weekday evening for foreign tourists and domestic tourists.
